Drumstick has always been my favourite vegetable. It is a rich of iron and moringa leaves soup is a must have during pregnancy. Most kids in the family find it lazy to separate the fleshy part and eat. When my MIL introduced this recipe to us, none of the mothers had worries of kids neglecting drumstick. The following recipe can be your baby food post 6 months. It contains plenty of iron and protein. This can be mixed with rice or accompany rice.
முருங்கைக்காய் பருப்பு மசியல்
- Drumstick-10 to 15
- Moong dhal-1 cup(Cooked & mashed)
- Tomato-1(chopped)
- Shallots-1/2 cup(Chopped roughly)
- Salt-To taste
- Oil-To cook
- Turmeric powder-A pinch
- Chilly powder-1/2 tsp
To temper:
- Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal-1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves
Procedure:
1.Steam cook the drumstick.
2.Separate the fleshy part using a spoon.
3.Temper a pan with oil,mustard seeds,urad dhal & curry leaves.
4.Add the chopped onion and tomato.
5.Saute until they turn soft.
6.Add a pinch of hing,turmeric powder,chilly powder and mix well.
7.Add half of water and let it boil.
8.When the water boils add the drumstick and mashed dhal and cook until it thickens.
9.Serve it with ghee 🙂
