Yeppieee!!!I finally tried baking a cookies for the first time and it ended up so successfully. And you know what makes it even wonderful ?It is white sugar free/gluten free/raising agents free -Sounds extremely nutritious right? It is made of finger millet+Amaranth flour as main ingredients. This is my first attempt in baking cookies/biscuits at home and it turned out super yummy and a great hit.It is toddler approved and in less than 24 hours more a tray is empty. My little one loved it so much.I was really thinking of various options and recipes to use this flour.I tried adding to dosa/fritters batter. It came out well. But it took me around 2 months to try a baked goodie recipe.I didn’t have enough confidence to give it a try because baking a cookie/baking without raising agents/baking with rajgira flour etc etc and a lot more was new to me.I am so happy that my maiden attempt turned out super healthy and yummy. Before getting into the recipe let’s look upon some facts about amaranth /rajgira. String Hoppers/Idiyappam is an Indian version of noodles,to be precise south-Indian version of noodles. My boy loves it and he calls it as noodles and can have it even without side dish. This is one of the best breakfast foods I would say because it is steamed. It is an excellent choice for all ages from 6 months to 60 years.Mom makes it in the traditional way using the big uruli. You can find that process here . It gives you the perfect ,very soft string hoppers. Here is an instant method too for this generation. It is comparatively easy and definitely tasty too.You can pair it with plain milk/coconut milk/ghee+coconut/sothi/kadala curry/veg.kurma or any thick gravies.Mom makes a variety of sevai like lemon sevai, tomato sevai etc.So the variations you can give to this simple dish is endless.I attempted making the same with all millet flour and one such recipe is what I am presenting to you today. I have already tried barnyard millet string hoppers .Check its recipe here(Another method) Continue reading “KAMBU GODHUMAI IDIYAPPAM/PEARL MILLET WHEAT STRING HOPPERS”

Yes you heard it right-A cake with multigrain flour/health mix/sathumaavu that too 100% eggless.I was never so thrilled and excited so far even when I had cooked first and posted my first recipe.Buying an OTG was a long pending one and I was the sole reason behind dragging it. I was so skeptical about its usage and worth of the purchase.I was constantly doubting in many aspects and finally we bought this two weeks back.It is a 24 L Morphy Richards OTG.I have been reading and learning a lot of baking basics, tips and recipes since then .Ask my friends and you would know how much I had nagged them 😉 With some beforehand experience of making cakes in pressure cooker and as a result of reading a lot from the web,FB groups and books I finally roughly drafted this recipe .The major reference comes from here and FB group OVENDERFUL MOM BAKERS COMMUNITY.I was so sure of baking it healthy without using maida/refined flour/all purpose flour.I have tried cakes with wheat and all millet flours in pressure cooker. Some turned great and few turned out to be a disaster. So with all learnings I gathered all courage to experiment with my OTG .I was so very excited when I tried this and had my finger crossed to check the outcome. Thanks to all wonderful friends who helped me by answering my queries and sharing their tips.I am a very beginning stage of baking and I am trying my best to put in all pointers in this post.I shall keep on improving.Do write to me your tips/suggestions.Here goes the recipe of my trial in my OTG.(Pardon me if I have not done the best) Continue reading “MULTIGRAIN CASHEW CARROT CAKE”
