Cabbage Amla Rice:
Dear Folks!Hope my post finds you in good health and high spirits. So how did you like the collection of lunch box recipes? I hope it was helpful with all 35 + healthy rice varieties. Most of the recipes in that collection would be based on a random idea which had come up early in the morning. Today’s Cabbage Amla Rice recipe is again one such random discovery/invention. When I had a stock of cabbage and amla but didn’t want to make my usual recipes like cabbage paratha or amla rice or club sandwich. Cabbage Amla Rice:
Ingredients:
- Cabbage-1 small(grated)
- Amla-5(grated)
- Rice-1 cup
- Onion-1(chopped)
- Salt-To taste
- Green Chilly-1
- Oil-To Cook
To Temper:
- Mustard Seeds-1/4 tsp
- Urad Dhal-1/4 Tsp
- Curry Leaves
Procedure:
1. Measure and keep the all the ingredients ready.
2.Cook rice and fluff it up with a fork. Steam cook shredded cabbage and keep it aside.
3. In a pan add the tempering elements and add onions when they splutter.
4. When the onions turn soft add green chillies and amla.
5. Saute well till they completely get separated.
6. Now add the steamed cabbage, salt and turmeric powder.
7. Give it a quick mix. Cool down this mixture.
8. Mix with the rice.
9. Cabbage Amla rice is ready to be served with any roast or fry.
P.S:
I haven’t added any masala powders to keep it simple.
You can add more green chilly as per your taste.
Steam cook cabbage for 5-7 minutes.
Babies above 6 months can be given this rice without salt and reduced spices.
Consult with your doctor before offering any new food to the baby.
Consider the family history of allergies before introducing any new food to baby
Be sure to have eliminated doubts of allergies of each ingredient before offering this to the baby.
Skip salt if the baby is below one year.
