Multi Millet Kozhukattai recipe:
Millet are a part of our weekly meals and in fact daily meal too through multigrain porridge we consume daily. I have shared a lot about millet and there are more than 30+ millet recipes in my blog here.I have experimented them in all variants of recipes ranging from basic porridge to the kids favourites.
Multi Millet Kozhukattai:
Ingredients:
- Millets(Combined)-1 cup
- Coconut-1/2 cup(grated)
- Salt-As per taste
- Oil-To cook
- Red Chilly-2
- Water-1/2-1 cup
I combined millets like varagu,saamai,thinai,kuthiraivaali(Proso,Little,Kodo,barnyard)
To temper:
- Mustard Seeds-1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal-1/4 tsp
- Bengal gram-1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves
Procedure:
1.Measure all ingredients and get things ready
2.Wash and rinse millets well and soak for 8 hours/overnight
3.Drain the water and add coconut ,millets,rice,chillies and salt to the mixer.
4.Grind by adding little water(to reach slight pouring consistency) using pulse mode.
5.The batter has to be slightly coarse(with some rava like particles).
6.In a pan heat oil and temper with ingredients mentioned.
7.When they splutter add the batter and start stirring.
8.Continue to stir in medium flame until you reach the consistency shown in below picture.
9.Make small/big balls when the dough is slightly warm and place them in a steamer/idly pot.
10.Steam cook for 15 minutes.
11.Serve it hot with any chutney.
P.S:
Stirring might be difficult if excess/less water is added.
Adjust chilly as per taste.
