2 Minute Whole Wheat Choco chip Mug Cake:
Mug Cakes are something which I have been longing to make and relish. I have been hesitant to try because I hadn’t seen a mug which reads “oven safe”, everything read “Microwave Safe”. But I have an OTG. Being scared of an accident I kept the idea aside. Recently I had a chance to use my uncle’s microwave. The moment we got it, we tried 4 mug cakes. Out of which only one was left for photography. Yeah, they got over in seconds. The quantity shown in pictures is many servings. I have mentioned the exact quantity under ingredients. Please read through this post before attempting. Kindly read your manual and my notes below thoroughly and proceed with baking.
2 Minute Whole Wheat Choco chip Mug Cake
Ingredients:
- Whole Wheat Flour-3 tbsp
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder-1 tbsp
- Palm Sugar-4 tbsp (Powdered & Sieved)
- Milk-100 ml
- Baking Soda-A pinch
- Ghee-As needed( Melted)
- Chocochip-To garnish

2 Minute Whole Wheat Choco chip Mug Cake
Procedure:
1. Measure and keep the ingredients ready.
2. Add the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda & palm sugar to a sieve and sift together.
3. Now add milk and mix them well. (Don’t beat).
4. Add melted ghee to this little by little to reach the below consistency.
5. Now pour into the mug, top with choco chips and bake for 2 minutes in microwave oven.
6. Cool and serve immediately.
7. Instant microwave mug cake is ready to serve.
P.S:
Please bake for 30 secs to 1 minute more if the cake is not qualified in a toothpick at 2 nd minute.
My mug cake was dense. I would suggest you sift a number of times more for a less dense cake.
Serving immediately is recommended.
Fill the mug only to less than 3/4 th.
Don’t double the quantities and pour in the same mug. Make more portions in different cups.
The same can be made in OTG. Preheat at 185 degrees for 10 minutes and bake for 10-12 minutes.
Please choose a “microwave/oven” safe ceramic mug.
The outcome might differ depending on the flour and palm sugar used.
For a moist cake use jaggery powder.
This can be offered to babies above 1 year.
