Strawberry Jam Recipe:
This strawberry jam was made 4 months ago and I have few spoons remaining and today I am posting the recipe of the strawberry jam without pectin or any preservatives for your toddlers and kids. Strawberry Jam Recipe:
The strawberry jam can be used a spread to roti, bread, dosa or as an accompaniment to idly. The jam will stay good for 3 to 6 months under refrigeration and proper usage. Though these jams are healthy and preservative-free, kindly do not offer this too often
Strawberry Jam Recipe:
Ingredients:
- Strawberry-250 gms
- Palm sugar-300 gms(powdered)
- Water-1/2 cup
Strawberry Jam Recipe:
1. Measure and keep all the ingredients ready.
2. Soak the strawberries in water and rinse well.
3. Remove the stem part and chop them roughly.
4. Blend them into a puree without adding water.
5. Sterilise the glass containers and sundry them.
6. Boil the water and add the powdered palm sugar in it.
7. Switch off the stove immediately when the palm sugar is dissolved and filter it.
8. In the same pan(after rinsing) add the strawberry puree and heat it.
9. Now add the palm sugar water by again filtering and mix well.
10. Cook in low flame by stirring occasionally till you reach the consistency.
To check for the right consistency take a drop and pour it on a plate. If it doesn’t form any traces as shown in the picture(right side), the jam is done.
11. Cool and store in a sterilised & airtight container in the refrigerator.
P.S:
The shelf life of each jam depends upon the ingredients, usage, storage and cooking procedure. So is the colour & texture.
The jam texture & colour depends on the sweetener used too.
Store in an airtight glass jar after completely cooling them down.
You can add some 15-20 deseeded dates instead of sugar if you plan to offer for babies below one year like dates strawberry jam
Do not cook in high flame or for a longer time as palm sugar might crystallize.
