Whole Wheat Momos Recipe:

I have always liked exploring various cuisines and momos has been one of my favourites. The store-bought ones are made with maida and they are mostly preserved and frozen. Hence I prefer making it at home with whole wheat flour(samba godhumai maavu). These were made long back by my man. I am finally posting after 3 months

Whole Wheat Momos Recipe:

We already have whole wheat spinach corn momos and whole wheat tofu momos recipe on the blog. The momos are usually served with the chutney and you can find the recipe here. You can make innumerable variations to the stuffing and make your picky eaters munch on healthy food.

Makes 10-12

  • Whole Wheat Flour-1/2 cup
  • Salt-To taste
  • Garlic-4(finely chopped)
  • Cabbage-1/2 cup(chopped finely)
  • Onion-1(finely chopped)
  • Pepper powder-1/2 tsp
  • Chilly powder-1/4 tsp
  • Italian Herbs-1/4 tsp
  • Oil-To cook
  • Water-To Knead dough

 

You can add finely chopped spring onions or carrot too to the stuffing.

Shredded panner can also be used as stuffing.

Whole Wheat Momos Recipe:

Procedure:

1. Measure all ingredients and keep them aside.

2. Make a smooth dough out of whole wheat flour. Allow it to rest for 30 minutes.

3. In a pan add some oil and add crushed garlic, chopped onions and chopped cabbage

4. Add all  spice powders and salt and mix well.

5. Saute for five minutes and set it aside for cooling.

6. Roll the dough into small balls and flatten into thin circular rotis (Cut with a sharp Lid).

7. Place the stuffing in the roti made and roll into your desired shape following the link given below.

8. Repeat the same for the remaining dough.

9. Steam cook them for 15-20 minutes.

10. Whole Wheat momos is ready.

P.S:

Make the roti as thin as possible. The thicker you make the harder it will become, as time passes by.

Adjust the spices based on your taste.

The stuffing mixture should be dry.

This can be offered to babies above 9 months but ensure to be with them when you serve.
