My friend here once made a dosa similar to Pesarattu with chilaka dal for a mini kids party and we all loved it so much. I wanted to try idly with the same chilaka dal and to my surprise, it turned out yummy and my son wanted more of the chilaka dal idly. Let us see the easy Chilaka Dal Idly Recipe
Chilaka Dal Idli Recipe:
I shall add the dosa recipe tomorrow. My mother was so impressed with the way it turned out.
Ingredients:
- Chilaka Dal-1/2 cup
- Black Gram(Black Urad dhal)-1/4 cup
- Raw rice-1/3 cup
- Fenugreek-1/4 tsp
- Salt-To taste
Chilaka Dal Idly Recipe
I know all of you are wondering what chilaka dal. It is nothing but half split green gram dal.
1. Measure the ingredients and keep them ready. Rinse both the dal, rice and fenugreek well and soak for 4 hours
2. Grind them together into a semi coarse batter and allow it ferment for 8 hours.
3. After fermentation, add salt and add water to it to make it perfect for idly batter.
4. Make idlis and enjoy with your favourite chutney.
P.S:
You can use whole white urad dhal too.
The idlies can be given to babies above 6 months (skip the salt).
