Thinai Semiya Recipe:
Thinai Semiya Recipe is a quick breakfast option you can make with goodness and nutrition. It can be made in a jiffy. I made this long back so I forgot the source/brand. It is from a local South Indian Store is what I remember. This is a different version of whole wheat vermicelli and I prefer these to usual seviyan as they are mostly maida. This thinai semiya recipe is an easy and yummy option to include millets in your food. I am not a fan of upma except for the arisi upma amma makes.
Thinai Semiya Recipe:
Ingredients:
- Onion-1 sliced
- Potato-1/2 cup sliced
- Carrot-1/2 cup grated
- Beans-1/4 cup chopped
- Green chilly-2 finely chopped
- Thinai Vermicelli-100 g
- Water-To immerse vermicelli
To Temper:
- Ghee-1 tsp
- Cashews-4
- Gram dhal-1/4 tsp
- Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal-1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves
Thinai Semiya Recipe:
1. Take the vermicelli out of the packet and separate them.
2. Immerse the vermicelli in water mixed with a pinch of salt.
3. Allow it for 3-4 minutes.
4. In the meantime chop the vegetables and get them ready
5. Drain the water completely and steam cook for ten minutes along with vegetables on a separate tray. I steam cooked carrot , potato and peas.
6. When the steaming is getting done, add oil on a pan and temper. Saute onion and tomatoes.
7. When the steaming is done, take out the vermicelli and fluff it up. Add the vegetables to the pan and give a gentle toss with a pinch of salt.
8. Switch off the stove and add the vermicelli to the vegetables and mix well.
8.Vegetable thinai semiya upma is ready.

You can make a sweet version of it too.
Ensure that you don’t overcook.
Drizzle a drop oil to the steamed vermicelli.
