Black Channa Sundal Recipe:
Black Channa Sundal Recipe is nothing but a tempered black chickpea recipe. These sundal variants are very common during the Navratri festival. They are offered to the Goddess as prasad and then shared among guests. There is a post on groundnut sundal already on the blog.
Black Channa Sundal Recipe:
Sundal has not been just confined to the Navratri season in our family but they are a part of our everyday menu. Out of the 7 days of a week 3-4 days we use sundal as our snacks.
Ingredients:
Serves 2-3
- Black Chickpeas-1/2 cup
- Salt-To taste
- Oil-1 tsp
- Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
- Urad Dhal-1/4 tsp
- Curry Leaves-1 spring
- Hing-1 pinch
- Coconut-1 tbsp
- Red chilly-1
Procedure:
1.Wash and soak the kondakadalai overnight or for 8 hours.
2.Drain the water and pressure cook with 2 cups of water for 4 whistles.
3.Drain the excess water completely or steam them for some time
till the water gets evaporated.
- In a pan add oil and temper with mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves.
5.Now add the red chilly and hing.
- Mix the cooked chickpeas and salt with the tempering.
- Finally sprinkle the grated coconut and switch off the stove.
- Black Chickpeas or Kala Channa Sundal is ready.

Notes:
When you pack for snack box avoid using coconut.
Adjust the chillies as per your taste.
